Approved Distance Education Course

This course has been approved by the Distance Education Committee of Southwestern Adventist University as meeting the standards for a distance education course offered by the university.

These standards cover a number of areas including:

• on-line presence
• syllabus that meets the guidelines of the university and addresses the unique situation of the distance education student
• course delivery
• explicit method for teacher and student to get to know one another
• pattern of pacing
• regular communication between teacher and student
• appropriate ancillary materials
• demonstration of grade feedback to the student
• appropriate records of communications

The standards were adopted in 2008 and the majority of courses that were offered for distance education at that time were initially reviewed during the 2008-09 academic year.  All approved distance education courses are reviewed periodically to ensure they continue to meet the high standards of Southwestern Adventist University.
